From a child, I was always fascinated by the unexplained; the woo-woo, science fiction, the supernatural and creatures that are supposed to be extinct, or never existed. In my preteen to early teen years, my favorite magazines for a period of time were tabloids, the National Enquirer and another similar one that I can’t remember the name of now. I wasn’t interested in the drama, gossip, or rumors about the celebrities; it was the information toward the back. It was always filled with stories about the supernatural, creatures, ufo’s, information, or books one could order on the unexplained. If I remember correctly, my first order from the back of a tabloid magazine was “Sea Monkeys,” with their handle bar mustache. At least that’s the way it was advertised. I must say after weeks of anticipations, I was somewhat disappointed that they did not look like the images in the advertisement.
